(February 27 2010 - Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a quiet community located on the part of Montreal that is known as"the West Island. Many people unfamiliar with the word often think that it's an island that's to the west of Montreal but in fact the West Island is home to all things from Lachine west to the Lachine city. Lachine west. Amanda Brugel grew up on this island, and it is frequently known as the place where she was born. It is true that she stayed there for a short duration. Brugel was a young woman within Courtice Ontario, just outside Oshawa. When she was a child she wanted to be professional performer, however an unexpected expansion of her body made it impossible. According to an article by Toronto Star, she revealed her height in heels as 6 foot 1 inches tall. As I got bigger than my male partners, I quit. Many former dancers turn to acting, and in the instance of Brugel, it was an urging by her teacher of drama. The teacher recommended that she try out for a school play. The teacher who suggested she take on a part in the annual school production. The show led her to receive a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theatre Program and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2000. Through the years since, Brugel has landed roles on more than 60 productions on the big and small screens. She attracted the most interest when she was offered the role of Rita in the award-winning show The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel is the sole Canadian of the season 1 cast of the show and only seen occasionally was the only Canadian.
